Dr. Lauren Beth Auger is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women鈥檚 Studies. She is an oral historian and had the privilege of interviewing eighteen war bride veterans for her doctoral work.
Research Interest/Specialization
Lauren's research interests are women, gender, sexuality, love, and war. She is particularly interested in the ways in which social understandings of gender and sexuality impact women鈥檚 involvement in war and public perceptions of women鈥檚 roles in wartime. She is also interested in how discourses regarding gender and sexuality influence how women remember their war service and how women see themselves as veterans.

Anmol Dutta is a Lecturer in both GSWS and Film Studies. She is currently completing her PhD dissertation in English Studies on cultural identity at the intersection of caste, gender, and religion in Indian originals on Netflix.
Research Interest/Specialization
Anmol specializes in Media and Cultural Studies, Queer/Feminist cinemas, Postcolonial theory, South Asian popular culture, and Stand-up comedy and activism. She has published articles, book chapters and contributed to various public fora via invited interviews and guest talks on religion and representation in media, mainstream Hindi cinema, Netflix and censorial media regimes, as well as stand-up comedy.

Jacob (they/them) received their collaborative Ph.D. in Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies and Transitional Justice and Post-Conflict Reconstruction in 2024. They currently teach part-time in GSWS as well as in the History Department at the University of Northern British Columbia. Their research examines the identities and experiences that meet at the intersections of intergenerational trauma and queerness.
Research Interest/Specialization
Queer theory, queer history, Holocaust and genocide studies, intergenerational trauma, history of the AIDS epidemic, pop culture.

Katrina Younes (she/her) holds a J.D. and a Ph.D. in English. She has taught courses in 深夜福利站's Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies Department on topics including women and law, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and the #MeToo movement, Afrofuturism, and popular culture, as well as film, gender studies, and literature courses at Lakehead, OCAD, and Trent Universities. Her current research examines the intersection of SGBV and climate change through an eco-noir methodology. Her recent book, The Ecology of American Noir, is available through Routledge.
