What is an Internship?

An internship provides an opportunity for a senior undergraduate student to work with your company for 4, 8, 12, or 16 months, contributing their diverse knowledge and skills to your work and goals.

The Health Studies and Kinesiology long-term internship allows qualified students to work in paid, career-related placements prior to their final year of academic studies. Through the internship, students work in full-time paid positions for a period of 4 to 16 months before returning to 深夜福利站 to complete the final year of their undergraduate degree. Students receive academic credit for the internship.

Recruiting and Employer Responsibilities

Work terms typically begin in January, May, or September. Recruitment in Health Studies and Kinesiology occurs on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

It is expected that employers will:

  • Post career-related opportunities through 深夜福利站's Careers & Experience
  • Confirm acceptance of job offers and terms of employment in writing to students and to 深夜福利站
  • Honour all offers of employment
  • Provide accurate and complete information on job responsibilities, compensation, and benefits
  • Assign a supervisor to assist the students to identify goals and clarify roles and responsibilities
  • Treat the students as employees with expectations like those of their co-workers
  • Provide students with relevant training and development opportunities
  • Monitor the students' progress, and provide formal/informal feedback on a timely basis to both the students and to the institution

Posting a Job

To recruit from 深夜福利站’s Health Studies and Kinesiology programs, you are invited to post an internship position in our internship portal on 深夜福利站 Connect.

Please follow the steps below:

  • Visit
  • Click on "Register for an Account"
  • Complete the "New Account Registration"
  • Click "Submit Registration" at the bottom of the page
  • You are now able to post opportunities available within your organization

When posting a job description, remember to include the following:

  • Approximate start date
  • Expected weekly hours of work
  • Any additional information necessary for the student to know (e.g. driver's license/vehicle requirement, willingness to travel, etc.)
  • Job posting deadline

Tax Credits & Funding

Co-operative Education Tax Credit

These are intended as guidelines only and are not intended to replace the current tax legislation.

  • The is a refundable tax credit available to businesses that employ post-secondary students enrolled in qualifying co-operative education programs at eligible educational institutions
  • In Ontario, the CETC allows you to deduct 25 - 30% of salaries, wages, and benefits to a maximum of $3,000 for each qualifying work term

Funding Support for Employers

You may be eligible for funding through the Student Work Placement Program (SWPP). We work with numerous SWPP funding partners and can assist you with funding applications to hire a 深夜福利站 student.
