Upper Year Registration
The information below is intended to help students in the Brescia School of Food and Nutritional Sciences who are entering second, third or fourth year prepare for course registration. Due to the number of student inquiries that are received by the Brescia School of Food and Nutritional Sciences on a daily basis, please read through the information on this page to find the answer to your question before contacting the office.
Full course descriptions for most courses are available in the . Course outlines for the academic year will be posted as soon as they become available.
The lists all courses being offered for the academic year, including notes regarding course priorities and restrictions. Please be sure to check course restrictions and prerequisites in the prior to attempting to register. Course priorities and/or restrictions are not usually waived.
Not all courses have had instructors assigned to them yet, but that information will be posted to the when it becomes available.
General Registration Information
Registration Times and Class Enrolment
Enrolment appointments are determined by a student's academic level/year of study and are assigned in the following order: Year 4 students, Year 3 students, Year 2 students. An email will be sent to each student's 深夜福利站 email once the enrolment appointment has been assigned, approximately 2 to 3 business days before the student's Fall/Winter enrolment start date.
Courses offered through the Brescia School of Food and Nutritional Sciences may fill up quickly. Students cannot receive special permission to be added to a course that is full. If a course has filled students may be able to add their names to a waitlist. Please see information on waitlists on the .Priority Registration: Some courses will be listed as Priority to students registered in certain modules or programs. Those courses will open up to other students on the date listed in the timetable. Please note courses that are Restricted will not open up to students outside the listed modules or programs. Priority and Restricted classes are listed on the timetable, and details on when Priority conditions expire can be found on the .
Registration Dates
- Second Year - July 21-25
- Third Year - July 14-18
- Fourth Year - July 7-11
- Priority Lifts - July 30 and August 6 (check timetable for details)
Note: Students are assigned registration times at random and the Brescia School of Food and Nutritional Sciences is not able to override these times.
Prerequisites and Course Restrictions
Only courses listed in the online timetable are offered. We are not planning to add any more courses (or additional sections to courses currently listed) at this time. Please be sure you have taken the prerequisite before attempting enrol in a course.
Students requiring special permission to take non-Foods and Nutrition or Family Studies courses should contact the department offering the course. If/when permission is granted, the department should forward a notice of permission to our office via email (fnsinfo@uwo.ca) to be noted on your academic record. If you receive an error message when registering for a course, be sure to check the prerequisite in the and the course notes in the for an explanation. It is very important to check the notes and prerequisites when you receive an error message.
Antirequisites
Antirequisites are listed in the under course descriptions. It is important not to take antirequisite courses as you can’t receive academic credit for courses with similar content. You need to be especially careful with courses such as Foods and Nutrition 3032B (if you haven’t completed it yet), as it’s considered an antirequisite to all other statistics courses at the 2000 level or above.
Note: When there is an anti-requisite listed, you cannot take that course instead of the Foods and Nutrition or Family Studies course unless permission is given from the Brescia School of Food and Nutritional Sciences.
Degree Requirements
It is important to be sure you have completed all the essay courses (E, F and G) and for your degree. As a Family Studies student you have already completed your Category “A” (first year Family Studies courses) but you may still need your Category “B” and “C” which is 1.0 course credits and/or 2.0 essay courses (of which 1.0 must be at the 2000 level or higher but which does not necessarily need to be in Family Studies)
As a Foods and Nutrition student you have already completed your Category “A” and “C” (first year Foods and Nutrition courses and Physiology course) but you may still need your Category “B” which is 1.0 course credits and/or 2.0 essay courses (of which 1.0 must be at the 2000 level or higher but which does not necessarily need to be in Foods and Nutrition)Assistance with Course Registration

Senior level Foods and Nutrition and Family Studies courses with priority registration will have a wait list option. Please visit the website for more information around wait lists.
